Meet The Photographer

I’m Jalen Mann, a passionate photographer and filmmaker based in Hampton, Virginia. I’m currently a student at Norfolk State University, pursuing a degree in Mass Communications.

From a young age, I’ve always had a creative mind. I spent my time drawing, creating small comics, and developing a love for movies and storytelling. At just six years old, I picked up a camcorder for the first time and filled an entire SD card filming Lego minifigures—without realizing I was taking my first steps into visual storytelling.

In high school, I enrolled in a video communications class where I learned how to storyboard, film, and produce short films. That experience changed everything for me. I fell in love with the process and knew I wanted to pursue it as a career.

My journey hasn’t been perfect. As a man of faith, there have been times where I felt close to God, and other times where I drifted. But through it all, I’ve found purpose in using my creativity as a form of ministry.

Darkoutsidemedia is more than just a brand—it’s a reflection of that purpose. I may not be someone who stands on a stage or recites every verse, but I believe storytelling is one of the most powerful ways to reach people. Through film and photography, my goal is to create work that inspires, connects, and ultimately brings people closer to God. what I will do.

“Without God, the world is dark. Through Him, we find light, purpose, and identity.”

Darkoutsidemedia is a Christian media company specializing in photography and cinematography. The name “Darkoutsidemedia” is rooted in the belief that without Jesus Christ, the world around us can feel dark and without direction.

Our mission, as servants of Christ, is to bring light, joy, and positivity into that darkness through intentional storytelling. Whether through evangelism, film, or photography, we strive to create meaningful visuals that inspire, uplift, and reflect God’s presence.

Every project we take on is approached with purpose—to not only capture moments, but to share truth, spread hope, and make a lasting impact through creative expression.
